Irvine Music Lessons Policies

This policy is and agreement between Irvine Music Lessons, instructors and students. It was created to clear up any questions which may arise regarding our music lesson policies, especially for missed lessons which may occur throughout the year.

Before you begin your monthly music lessons, your instructor will ask you to sign our studio policy to verify that you have understand and read the following:

Payment for Lessons


Payment for music lessons must be received on or before the 25th of each month for the following month's lessons. Payment will be made by personal or cashier's check and made out to "Irvine Music Lessons."

Bounced checks will incur a service charge. Repeatedly bounced checks may require a cashier's check. A $20 registration fee is due on the first lesson. Lesson fees hold your spot in your teacher's schedule and do not include costs for method books, class materials or recitals.

Location & Materials


All music lessons are taught in the students' homes or a mutually agreed upon location. The student is responsible for providing an appropriate instrument.

Discontinuing Lessons


In the event that lessons must be discontinued by teacher or student, one month's notice must be given by either party. Exceptions are made for extenuating circumstances.

Refunds


No refunds will be given under any circumstances.

Missed Lessons


If a lesson is missed for a legitimate reason, there are two options to makeup the lesson:

1) Reschedule the lesson to a different date
2) Add time to future lessons

Last Minute Cancellations/No-Shows


Your teacher reserves the right to refuse a makeup lesson if you cancel your lesson on short notice or do not show up for a lesson.

If it becomes necessary to cancel a lesson, please give your teacher at least 3 hours notice, preferably 24 hours. If you do not show up within 10 minutes of the lesson's scheduled start time, or do not call and cancel your lesson within an appropriate timeframe, you forfeit that lesson and will not be given a makeup.

Illness & Vacations


Please be considerate of the health of your teacher and other students by cancelling your lesson if you or anyone in your household is ill.

If you are planning on going on vacation, please alert your teacher as soon as your plans are set to make arrangements.

Vacations that are longer than one month are subject to schedule and fee changes.

Emergency Situations


Exceptions will be made to the Missed Lesson policy in extreme situations such as a death in the family or other emergencies.

Holidays


You are not responsible for paying for lessons on the following holidays unless you wish to have a makeup:
  • Independence Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day
Lessons are not available on the following holidays, but your teacher will provide makeup lesson options:
  • New Years Eve
  • New Years Day
  • Easter Sunday
  • Memorial Day
  • Labor Day
If you plan to observe other holidays, please alert your teacher so plans may be made well ahead of time for makeup lessons. This is especially important at the holiday season at the end of the year.

Student Responsibilities


The student acknowledges that they will have a positive outlook, maintain sufficient time for practice and will have respect for the teacher.

Parent Involvement


The parent/guardian acknowledges that they will be a positive role model for their child throughout the music lesson process; including fostering good practice habits, monitoring student's progress and keeping communication lines open with the teacher.

Teacher Responsibilities


The teacher acknowledges that they will provide quality music instruction, will have respect for the student and will keep open communication with parents.
